My family is very fortunate, as we’ve never really struggled with money. It’s been an ongoing thing throughout generations of my family, so it’s important to me to teach my kids to give back and help those who are less fortunate than they are.
About every 3 months, unless there’s something pressing, we get my family together to make large meals to deliver to homeless shelters and to people we see in different areas that could use a hot meal. I also post something on our local Facebook page to see if anyone knows a family or individual in need that could benefit from something like this.
Of course things typically increase every year, which is a sad but true reality of our time. We do our best to fulfill as many requests as we possibly can. We are typically pretty successful in our endeavors.
Our family consists of about 20 individuals, including my own family, my brother and sister, and nieces and nephews. Some of the kids’ friends like to get involved too, which is wonderful. Typically too many cooks in the kitchen is bad, but in this case it’s a lifesaver.
We would tally up how many people and/or families were in need, make a list and add 10 more to that list, just to be safe. If we ended up with leftovers, we’d have the homeless shelters freeze them for later use. They were always very thankful.
Even with all of those people, food prep by hand is tedious, time consuming and exhausting. Myself, my brother, and my sister all have food processors that we use to make the prep easier. I’d say that it probably cuts the time preparing it in half. I’m not 100% sure on that figure, nor do I really want to find out.
One month recently we were just inundated with requests and I wasn’t sure how we were going to pull it off. So we had a family “meeting” I suppose you would call it, to come up with possible solutions.
My eldest daughter had just moved into her own apartment and had recently become interested in cooking. She suggested that maybe she should get a food processor for her apartment, and that she could use it for our cooking day.
I thought it was a great idea, and that it might just be the solution to our problem. We sat down to see which one might be the best option for her. We decided on the Cuisinart DFP-14BCWNY Food Processor from KitchenWorksInc. We had it shipped to my house to make it easier when the day came.
It was the smartest idea that anyone came up with. Not only was the food processor a wonderful tool, but it made a huge difference having 4 instead of 3 for this bulk meal prep. We managed to finish everything with no issue at all.
The Cuisinart food processor worked so well that the rest of us chose to upgrade our own since ours were ancient. I can honestly say that it’s made a monumental difference in our food preparation. It’s helped us to feed more people in need than I’d ever imagined.
People are so grateful to us, and it’s a wonderful feeling. My kids continue to learn valuable life lessons, and to always appreciate what they have. I’m very thankful that our Cuisinart food processors make this all possible.
Weight Loss Goals With My Food Processor
I went through a period in my life where I was really overweight. It led me to depression which just made it worse because I was unmotivated. It was a vicious cycle and I needed a way out.
I was only 31, but I felt much older than that. My body hurt and I got winded easily. I wasn’t sure what to do, so at my annual physical I discussed it with my doctor. She suggested going on walks and prepping my food as a start.
It all sounded so daunting but I knew I needed to make a change or it would only get worse. I started walking, since that was the easiest thing to start. Then I started researching how to food prep.
I wasn’t much of a cook, so I was pretty nervous. Luckily, there were a lot of simple things out there that I could do. One major tool that would simplify everything was a food processor. I had never used one before, but it was worth a shot.
I set out on doing research about what kinds were out there and what would be best for me. I decided on the Cuisinart DFP-14BCWNY Food Processor from KitchenWorksInc. Reviews were great and it seemed easy to operate. I ordered it and sat down to figure out my first few meals that I would make with it.
When it arrived, I forced myself to get right to work. I was prepping food for the whole week, so I expected it to take forever. I was shocked at how quickly I accomplished it with my food processor. I didn’t realize all that it could actually do to help me.
I made it a habit of getting all of my food prepared on Saturday afternoons. It was the best time I had to put in the time. Once I was doing it for a few weeks, it became like second nature to me.
I experimented with different recipes that were healthy to see what I liked. I was surprised that there was so much out there that was good for me that wasn’t awful to eat. I allowed myself one night a week to order in, dine out, or even cook something that wasn’t good for me.
I managed to really stick to my habit. I had a few downfalls, but nothing major. Just some minor setbacks which didn’t deter me since now my mental health was improving between my food choices and exercise.
Once I started seeing changes in my body, I got really motivated and l started going yo the gym too. I know that working out alone wasn’t going to be enough to make this all work for me, and eventually I’d hit a plateau with just walking.
I was feeling so much better. Now I look forward to picking my recipes out and prepping my food. I’ve lost about 75 pounds in a little over a year and I can hardly believe it. My doctor was seriously impressed with my progress.
I’m so thankful that I made these changes to vastly improve my life. I can honestly say that my Cuisinart food processor was the ultimate game changer in this situation. I cannot recommend this tool enough.
Coleslaw For A Crowd
Every summer my local fire house has a barbecue fundraiser. We sell tickets and then make a ton of food based on that number. The menu is pretty basic, consisting of barbecued chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, and coleslaw.
The coleslaw is my job, and every year the number of people that attend seems to go up. It’s definitely a good thing because it raises a good amount of money for our fire department, but making that much coleslaw can be really time consuming.
If you can believe it, I used to cut everything by hand. Literally all of the cabbage was cut by a knife, and I would grate the carrots. Then one year we had a crazy amount of tickets to sell, and I nearly fell over. I had no idea how I would pull off making enough coleslaw to accommodate that many people.
I sat down to see if there were any hacks to make large quantities of coleslaw. I’m glad I didn’t mention it to anyone yet, because I was embarrassed by what I discovered which did not even dawn on me. I could easily make coleslaw in a food processor! Thank goodness!
It had been quite some time since I had used my food processor, and I wasn’t even sure if it still worked. I pulled it out and it turned out that it still ran, but it seemed that I was missing my regular chopping blade and the grating blade. That wasn’t going to fly.
I thought about it, and realized I should probably just buy a whole new food processor rather than trying to replace the blades on this old one. I was going to put it through the wringer when it came to making all of this coleslaw, so I needed to be sure it would be reliable.
I researched different brands and models to see what would best suit my needs. I was on the KitchenWorksInc website and found the Cuisinart DFP-14BCWNY Food Processor. It seemed to have everything I needed and would be super helpful in making that amount of coleslaw.
